What's New for the 2020 Volvo XC40?

Though some entry-level luxury vehicles seem like cheap imitations, that's not true of the 2020 Volvo XC40. It comes with most of the great features found in the higher-tier XC60 and XC90, and its interior is nearly on that level. Though it's smaller and not quite as powerful as its upmarket siblings, it makes it up in terms of fuel economy. The 2020 Volvo XC40 no longer comes with power-folding rear seats and leather upholstery as standard equipment.

What Are the 2020 Volvo XC40 Trims & Features?

The 2020 XC40 is available in Inscription, R-Design, and Momentum trims.

• The Momentum has 18" alloys, a power-up liftgate, roof rails, auto windshield wipers, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, LED headlights, driver attention monitoring, auto high beams, a power-adjustable driver's seat with lumbar and memory support, cloth upholstery, a 12.3" digital instrument panel, an eight-speaker audio system, and much more.
   
• The R-Design gets 19" alloys, a sporty suspension, special styling cues, nubuck/leather upholstery, and a sporty steering wheel. Some of the Momentum's features are optional, including keyless ignition and entry, dual-zone climate control, and navigation.
   
• The Inscription gets the same steering wheel and chassis tuning as the Momentum, with a few premium design cues such as leather seating, wood interior trim, and a crystal shift knob. You'll also get the R-Design's comfort features, as well as a surround camera.

Raw Power and Stellar Performance

The 2020 XC40 has two different engine choices; both are 2.0L turbo four-cylinder. They're mated to 8-speed auto transmissions, but they differ in terms of fuel efficiency and power. The base engine makes 187hp and 221 lb. ft. of torque, while the other engine makes 248hp and 258 lb. ft. of torque.

All XC40 trims come with several option packages. For instance, the Premium package adds steering assist, power locks, and wireless device charging. There's a package that adds a heated steering wheel and front seats, and another package adds automated parking, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring.
