Which Volvos have three rows

For those with large families, vehicles with three rows of seating are a must. Not just for comfort, but often, for safety reasons. Every person riding in a vehicle needs to have their own seat belt and the only vehicles made today with more than 5 seat belts feature three rows. If you have a larger family, or simply want the ability to transport more than 5 people in your vehicle, Volvo has multiple solutions available at a Volvo near you.

Three to choose from with three rows

Volvo currently offers two SUVs with three rows of seats, the Volvo XC90 and the Volvo XC90 Recharge. In addition, the much anticipated, fully-electric Volvo EX90, which comfortably seat 7 with three rows of seats. Here's more information about all three of these vehicles.

The Volvo XC90

In addition to offering three rows of seating, the Volvo XC90 comes with your choice of two engines. The first is a B6 mild hybrid turbocharged engine. The B6 is a powerful and efficient powertrain option. It is a 2.0 liter turbocharged, four-cylinder gasoline engine, combining a turbocharger with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. The turbocharger technology forces more air into the engine, resulting in increased power output without significantly compromising fuel efficiency.

The 48-volt mild hybrid system consists of a lithium-ion battery pack and an integrated starter generator (ISG). The ISG provides several benefits including power assist, regenerative braking that captures kinetic energy during braking, converts it into electricity and delivers it back for storage in the battery pack. The recovered energy can then be used to assist the engine or power other electrical components. The B6 delivers around 295 horsepower and about 310 lb-ft torque.

The Volvo XC90 comes in multiple trim levels. The base level is the Kinetic trim. Many deliberate between the Volvo XC90 Inscription vs. Momentum. The Inscription is a slightly more luxurious trim than the Momentum. The R-design is a sportier trim, while the Excellence is the top-of-the-line, ultra-luxury trim.

The Volvo XC90 Recharge

The XC90 Recharge is a plug-in hybrid, and thus, offers additional electric driving range compared to the standard XC90. It can potentially provide better fuel efficiency on shorter trips where it fully utilizes its electric range. This additional range does not lessen its performance, though. The electric motor and gasoline engine work together to deliver impressive power and acceleration. The electric motor also gives you instant torque that results in a smooth and responsive driving experience.

By incorporating electric power, the XC90 Recharge helps reduce your overall carbon footprint and environmental impact compared to a traditional gasoline-powered SUV. The Volvo XC90 Recharge is an attractive choice if you're seeking a luxurious, powerful and environmentally conscious SUV.

The Volvo EX90

The EX90 will be Volvo's first all-electric, three-row SUV. Given Volvo's longtime focus on safety, you can rest  assured that the EX90 will include the latest advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), with features like:

  • Enhanced automatic emergency braking with advanced pedestrian and cyclist detection.
  • Improved lane-keeping assist with steering intervention.
  • Advanced blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
