What is the Service Interval for Volvos?

If you've recently purchased a Volvo, or recently thought now would be a good time to buy from a Volvo dealership near me, you've probably wondered how often it would need to be serviced. At Volvo Cars Arrowhead, we're happy to share the Volvo Maintenance Schedule.

Regular maintenance is the best way to protect your investment in a Volvo. Every vehicle can be a little different, so you should consult the owner's manual of your vehicle for model-specific information. But below is what you can expect.

In general, you need to have your vehicle serviced every 7,500 miles. Older vehicles may need to be serviced more frequently, given the needs of higher mileage engines. Additionally, earlier models that use conventional motor oils may need to be seen as frequently as every 2500 miles.

7,500-Mile Service

After 7,500 miles, you've probably gotten the feel for your new Volvo and we're certain that you've already become attached to it. Maintenance is the best way to show how much you love it and ensure it keeps providing you with the drive you're accustomed to. Below is what you should have done at 7,500 miles (6 months or so for most folks), and every 7,500 miles after that. Of course, Volvo Cars Arrowhead would be grateful for the opportunity to perform these vehicle maintenance checks:

  • Check the On-Board Diagnostic System
  • Replace Engine Oil and Filter
  • Reset Service Reminder Indicator (SRI)
  • Check or Adjust Engine Coolant
  • Check Wiper Blades and Replace If Deemed Necessary
  • Check Brake Fluid and Pads
  • Check Tire Pressure and Wear

15,000-Mile Service

At 15,000 miles, or approximately a year after you make the decision to buy at a Volvo near me, you should have each of the maintenance checks above made, as well as these additional ones:

  • Virtually Inspect the Bevel Gear (in AWD Models)
  • Replace the Cabin Air Filter
  • Inspect the Convertible Hardtop (C70 Only)
  • Check and/or Adjust the Parking Brake

22,500-Mile Service

At 22,500 miles, you will be fully appreciating the luxury and performance of your vehicle. Here are a few maintenance checks Volvo Cars Arrowhead can perform to make sure it stays that way.

  • Check the On-Board Diagnostic System
  • Replace Engine Oil and Filter
  • Reset Service Reminder Indicator (SRI)
  • Check or Adjust Engine Coolant
  • Check Wiper Blades and Replace If Deemed Necessary
  • Check Brake Fluid and Pads
  • Check Tire Pressure and Wear

30,000-Mile Service

When you get to 30,000 miles, you'll want to have a very thorough inspection that includes all of the maintenance performed at your first three intervals. In addition to that, though, you'll also want to have the following checked:

  • Check Fuel and Brake Lines/Hoses for Damage or Leaks
  • Check and/or Adjust Engine Coolant, Power Steering and Washer Fluid Levels
  • Replace Cabin Air Filter
  • Inspect Convertible Hardtop (C70 only)

From that point on, you'll want to have your Volvo serviced every 7,500 miles for recommended inspections and replacements, plus basic services like oil changes, brake inspections and tire rotations and replacements.

When it comes to service, you don't ever have to wonder, "Is there a Volvo dealer near me that can help me?" Because Volvo Cars Arrowhead is always available to help.
