What's New for the 2019 Volvo XC40?

The 2019 Volvo XC40 includes an optional Harman Kardon Premium Sound audio system and features the world's first air-ventilated subwoofer. The speaker is housed uniquely beneath the front windshield to create precise, powerful, and impressive sound and also to free up additional door storage space. The XC40's 9-inch tablet-like infotainment touchscreen allows the driver to use Android Auto ™ and Apple CarPlay ™ while utilizing the other car functions as well.

2019 XC40 New Features and Highlights

The Volvo XC40 is available in 3 different trims: R-Design, Momentum, and Inscription. The sporty R-Design features a gloss black color theme for the roof and other exterior details to contrast or compliment your choice of car color and optional Lava-colored carpeting throughout the interior. It includes Perforated Fine Nappa Leather/Nubuck-upholstered charcoal seats with white piping and stitching and its R-Design Sport Steering Wheel features gearshift paddles. Created for the modern world, The Momentum is a contemporary Scandinavian city style that includes smart technology, features, and design. One can choose from a variety of exterior solid and metallic full-bodied colors, most of which are available with a contrasting white color scheme for the roof, wheel spokes, and door mirror caps. The window frames are gloss black and the exterior details are bright chrome. The XC40 Momentum also includes standard LED lights that feature a unique and modern take on the Thor's Hammer design by Volvo. Its seats are both leather and ergonomic. The final trim available is the Inscription, a modern Swedish luxury design that is available in only 4 exterior paint options. It includes chrome accents, matte silver skid plates, unique 18-inch alloy wheels, leather seats, and a crystal gear knob designed by Swedish glassmaker Orrefors.

Other features of the new 2019 Volvo XC40 include an optional Premium Sound audio system by Harman Kardon, comprised of 13 speakers placed strategically throughout the car to obtain optimally balanced acoustics. Built with storage in mind, one can find slots for cards, a fold-out hook to hang bags, a compartment below the driver's seat for a tablet, a wastebasket, a phone compartment, and an enormous door bin that can house a laptop. The XC40's large cargo area in the rear compartment measures 47.2 cubic feet, includes a foldable and removable floor, a power-operated tailgate, and an available hands-free function that opens with a wave of the foot.

Engine and Performance

2019 Volvo XC40The 248 horsepower 2.0 liter inline 4-cylinder turbocharged engine features Drive-E powertrains and helps decrease fuel consumption and emissions with 23 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway.

Safety First

On the interior it includes front and side airbags for both passenger and driver, automatic braking after collision, driver alert control, a lane keeping aid, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Its 9-inch Sensus Touchscreen tablet-like display provides access to navigation and connectivity apps and functions, and features an easier-to-maneuver portrait layout for map routes that requires less scrolling. The 12.3-inch Digital Driver Display uses the latest technology available to help you focus on driving by placing all the information you need right in front of you, like drive modes, temperature, and even phone calls.
